This is one of my best friends, Mary Anne. She was one of the first people I told about my cancer diagnosis… in the middle of the night in a message. She immediately wrote me back with a ton of love, support, and appropriate encouragement that she would be by my side. Those were all things I needed to hear but didn’t know I needed at the time.
Friends coming around a cancer patient during a health crisis are the backbone of a support team and can even positively impact healing! Studies have shown strong social connections and support can enhance quality of life and reduce the risk of dying for cancer patients.
Cancer can feel like a scary lonely journey, but the patient doesn’t have to be alone along the way.
Mary Anne and I, along with several other friends, have had many lengthy discussions about what all should go into the resources FOR FRIENDS of CANCER PATIENTS. It isn’t easy being someone with cancer nor of knowing how to best support your friend with cancer. So, we have created Guides and Courses to take assumptions out of wondering what to do and what to say.
You can get the Helping Your Friend with Cancer guide here.
