Part 1 of my Recap as a Cancer Thriver & Cancer Coach at the Annie Appleseed Conference (2025) is now up on my site for you!

Annie Appleseed Project was created by the late Ann Fonfa (pictured in 2023 with me on the last slide). Ann was a powerhouse advocating for all cancer thrivers to have information and access to all kinds of care — which helped her live decades beyond her cancer diagnosis.

Determined to help bridge the gap between conventional and integrative / complementary practices, Ann created the Annie Appleseed Project, a nonprofit 501c3, as a platform to provide education, advocacy, and access to integrative cancer care information.

As Ann mentioned in a 2018 interview with Chris Wark, “What I found is, every step of the way I found things that kept me well enough to go to the next step.”

What began as a small initiative to help other people have info about these other therapies, grew into an internationally recognized organization, bringing together researchers, medical doctors, holistic practitioners, herbalists, advocates, cancer coaches, and cancer thrivers to explore the most effective ways to integrate conventional and natural therapies.

Within 2 weeks of being diagnosed with breast canc

Within 2 weeks of being diagnosed with breast cancer, I was able to get an appointment with a practitioner who said these words that I’ve never forgotten 8 years later,

“We’re not here to focus on a spot. We are going to treat the entire Jenny.”

We worked on supporting my entire body, nudging my sluggish liver to get going better, balancing my hormones, deeply nourishing my body, supporting my detox pathways, supplementing where needed in my particular case, and on reducing some situational stressors.

She NEVER told me to abandon my conventional oncology plan or scans. She NEVER told me to say no to what the cancer clinic could offer my case. She aimed at SUPPORTING my WHOLE BODY through the cancer journey.

Using supportive therapies that go beyond the standard conventional care can be really beneficial to helping the WHOLE person. But it’s not something to D-I-Y. You want a well rounded team, that includes a licensed naturopathic oncologist and a cancer coach.
