These nuts are a crowd pleaser made with a few simple healthier ingredients and no cane sugar. This recipe can easily be modified to use a different nut or spice blend. And these are great for a party treat or snacking on a trip.
Easy & Healthier Cinnamon Spiced Nuts Ingredients:
- Bag of Raw Unsalted Organic Walnuts
- Real Maple Syrup
- Sea Salt (finely ground)
- Ceylon Cinnamon powder
- Optional: Coconut Butter
This recipe is so forgiving and easy that I don’t measure anything. It’s all about starting small, eye-balling it, tasting it, and adding more as your taste tells you.
Directions:
The short version goes like this – preheat your oven, get a bowl and pour the nuts in it. Drizzle the nuts with maple syrup then stir it up. Sprinkle some salt on the nuts and then cover them liberally with the cinnamon. Stir the whole thing up and pour out as one layer onto the parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 5 minutes, then stir it up and add coconut butter if desired. Bake again for 5 mins. Let cool then store in glass jars and give as tasty gifts.

The step-by-step instructions go like this –
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Line a baking sheet (or two) with unbleached parchment paper.
- Get a medium bowl (something you can easily life up and maneuver later) and pour nuts into it until about 1/4 of the bowl is filled.
- Carefully drizzle some maple syrup over the nuts. Remember to start with less amount than you think is needed. You can always add more but you can’t take away. This snack is meant to be a fun treat, but not a dessert.
- Use a big spoon to stir the syrup as to moderately coat the nuts.
- Next sprinkle a pinch of salt over the coated nuts.
- Shake the cinnamon over the coated nut mixture to cover the nuts liberally.
- Use the spoon again to evenly distribute the syrup, salt, and cinnamon mixture over all the nuts in your bowl. If you sense there is too much topping, then add more nuts to your bowl and stir them into the coating.
- Pour the coated nut mixture onto the parchment lined baking sheet. Make sure the nuts are spread out all in one layer and not stacking on top of each other.
- Bake the nuts for 4-5 minutes.
- Take the nuts out and stir them around on the baking sheet. This is where you can add a little bit of coconut butter to the nuts for additional flavor. The coconut butter will slowly melt on the warm nuts as you stir it around on the baking sheet. Bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Set the baking sheet on a cooling rack and allow the nuts to cool while you are making your next batch.
I usually get a full baking sheet worth of nuts from one bag of Natural Grocers brand of organic raw walnuts. I get about 2-3 jars of the half pint (8 oz) size using one bag of walnuts.
